The season opener for the Deer Creek Speedway took place Saturday, with a big field of USRA Modifieds on hand. Jacob got off to a strong start by racing from fifth to first in the first heat race of the night. In the main event, he started tenth and finished 11th.

After charging from fourth to win his heat race, Mother Nature interrupted the show. With Jacob scheduled to start outside the front row for the USRA Modified feature, rain postponed the main event until the following week, but that was rained out too so now the double features will be run on Saturday, June 2. Jacob battled with the USRA Modifieds in the North Star Nationals at the Deer Creek Speedway on Saturday. After finishing second in his heat race, he redrew the tenth starting spot for the main event and clawed his way forward for an eighth-place finish against a stout field of cars and drivers.
