Jacob competed in the 18th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree, Sept. 22-24, at the Deer Creek Speedway, and was able to find his way into the main event all three nights.
On Thursday, he started and finished second in his heat race, but that still wasn't good enough to claim a spot in the main event. In his "B" Main, he started second and finished third to earn the 24th stating spot in the feature race. In the main event, he passed a dozen cars en route to a 12th-place finish. His efforts earned him a runner-up finish in the 2016 USMTS Grant Junghans Rookie of the Year points behind Ricky Thornton Jr.
He had to do it the hard way again on Friday. Starting on the pole of his heat, he held on to finish third but again found himself in a "B" Main where he started and finished in the runner-up spot. In the 42-lap main event, he started 21st but early troubles sidelined him just five laps into the race with a 30th-place finish.
On Saturday, he drew the pole for his heat race and crossed the finish line in second. This time it was good enough to garner the 14th starting spot in the 52-lap, $10,000-to-win main event. After a hard fought race, he took home a 17th-place paycheck on the final night.
